How to pair Phonak hearing aids with an iPhone

Quick answer: Turn on Bluetooth in iPhone Settings, restart your Phonak hearing aids to start a 3-minute pairing mode, then tap “R-Phonak hearing aid” (or L-) in the Bluetooth list. Newer models set up in the myPhonak app may already be paired.

Steps

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone and tap Bluetooth. Make sure it is turned on.
  2. Restart your hearing aids to put them in pairing mode. Rechargeable: put them in the charger for at least 10 seconds, then take them out. Battery models: open the battery door for about 5 seconds, then close it.
  3. Pairing mode lasts about 3 minutes. Keep the hearing aids close to your phone.
  4. After a few seconds your hearing aid appears in the Bluetooth list, usually as “R-Phonak hearing aid” or “L-Phonak hearing aid” (your provider may have renamed it).
  5. Tap the hearing aid name. A beep from the hearing aid confirms pairing worked.
  6. For volume and program control, install the free myPhonak app from the App Store and follow its pairing steps.

Newer Phonak models (Infinio Ultra and later)

Phonak says that if you have Infinio Ultra hearing aids or a newer model and already set them up in the myPhonak app, you can skip the steps above. The app pairs them for calls and streaming during setup.

Apple’s Hearing Devices menu

Apple also lists Made for iPhone hearing devices under Settings › Accessibility › Hearing Devices. That is where you can see battery levels, adjust settings, and tap Forget this device if you need to start over. Steps can vary by model, so follow the method your hearing aid’s user guide recommends.
