Quick answer: On iPhone, go to Settings › Accessibility › Hearing Devices, turn your hearing aids off and on, then tap them under MFi Hearing Devices and tap Pair. Which Widex app do I need?
Widex Allure hearing aids use the Widex Allure app. Widex Moment hearing aids use the Widex Moment app. Older Evoke and Beyond models have their own apps. Widex lists which app goes with each model on its app support page.
iPhone steps
- Make sure Bluetooth is turned on in your iPhone’s Settings.
- Open Settings › Accessibility › Hearing Devices.
- Turn your hearing aids off and back on. Battery models: open and close the battery doors. Rechargeable: put them in the charger for about 10 seconds, then take them out.
- When your hearing aids appear under MFi Hearing Devices, tap them. Tap Pair on every pairing request that pops up (one per hearing aid).
- Tap the back arrow at the top left. Your hearing aids should now be listed in blue with the status Connected.
- Open your Widex app (Widex Allure or Widex Moment, depending on your model) and connect your hearing aids to the app.
Android steps
- Before you start, turn your phone’s Bluetooth off, power the phone off, power it back on, then turn Bluetooth back on.
- Power off your hearing aids. Battery models: open the battery doors. Rechargeable: put them in the charger.
- Install the Widex Allure or Widex Moment app from Google Play, depending on your hearing aid model, and open it.
- Turn both hearing aids on.
- In the app, tap Pair your hearing aids, then Search.
- When your hearing aids show up together under Available hearing aids, tap their name and tap Pair on every request that appears.
- When they appear under My hearing aids or Paired hearing aids, tap Next (or Done at the top right). Then play a video or make a test call to check the sound.
Will my Android phone work?
Widex hearing aids stream to Android using ASHA (Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids). Not every Android phone supports ASHA, so check Widex’s device compatibility page. Widex says Allure also supports LE Audio streaming with Android phones that support LE Audio (the LC3 codec).
If streaming stops or cuts in and out
- No streaming, but you still hear the room normally? Unpair and pair again. iPhone: Settings › Accessibility › Hearing Devices, tap your hearing aids, then Forget this device. Android: Bluetooth settings, tap the gear next to the hearing aids, then Unpair or Forget. Then repeat the steps above.
- Weak or no sound at all? Widex says to check first that the ear tip or earmold and the receiver aren’t blocked with wax. Our cleaning helper walks you through it.
- Sound drops in one ear? Your body can block the Bluetooth signal when the phone is in a hip pocket on the other side. Widex suggests keeping the phone centered, like in a shirt pocket or on a lanyard, and away from walls, metal, routers and microwaves.
- Two Apple devices fighting over your hearing aids? Widex recommends turning off Control Nearby Devices and Audio Handoff in Settings › Accessibility › Hearing Devices. Only one device can stream at a time, so turn Bluetooth off on the one you aren’t using.
More general fixes are in our disconnecting checklist.
If the Widex app says Bluetooth is disconnected
- Close the app fully. iPhone: swipe it away in the app switcher. Android: Settings › Apps › the Widex app › Force stop, then restart the phone.
- Check permissions. iPhone: Settings › Apps › the Widex app, and make sure Bluetooth is on. Android: Settings › Apps › the Widex app, and make sure Nearby devices is Allowed.
- Still failing? Unpair and pair the hearing aids again, and if that doesn’t work, uninstall and reinstall the app.
Widex rechargeable restart
For Widex Moment rechargeable hearing aids, Widex says to press the button for six seconds to turn the hearing aid off, then six seconds again to turn it on. If it still won’t reconnect, put it in the charger for about 10 seconds (or until the lights flash green) and take it out. You can repeat this once more.
TV, computer and hands-free calls
- TV: Widex recommends its TV Play 2 streamer. Allure works only with TV Play 2; Moment works with TV Play and TV Play 2. See our TV guide.
- Computer: Widex Moment can stream from a computer through the SoundConnect USB accessory. See our computer guide.
- Hands-free calls (phone in your pocket, your voice picked up by the hearing aids) work with Widex Allure and compatible iPhones. For Moment, Widex says to use an accessory such as Sound Assist or COM-DEX.
