How to pair Signia hearing aids with iPhone and Android

Quick answer: Restart your phone’s Bluetooth, power the hearing aids off, forget any old pairing, then power them back on. On iPhone tap “Not Paired” in Settings › Accessibility › Hearing Devices; on Android tap Pair new device in Bluetooth settings. Then set up the Signia app.

iPhone steps

  1. Turn your iPhone’s Bluetooth off, restart the iPhone, then turn Bluetooth back on. Signia recommends this before every pairing attempt.
  2. Power off your hearing aids. Rechargeable: put them in the charger. Battery models: open the battery doors.
  3. Open Settings › Accessibility › Hearing Devices.
  4. Paired before? Tap your hearing aids near the top of the screen, tap Forget this device, and confirm with Forget. (Skip this if they were never paired.)
  5. Power the hearing aids back on (take them out of the charger, or close the battery doors) and put them in your ears. They stay in pairing mode for about 3 minutes.
  6. When the hearing aids show up as Not Paired, tap that. Tap Pair on the pop-up, and tap Pair again on the second pop-up if you wear two.
  7. Open the free Signia app, allow Bluetooth and notifications when asked, choose the Bluetooth setup option, and follow the on-screen steps.

Android steps

  1. Turn your phone’s Bluetooth off, restart the phone, then turn Bluetooth back on.
  2. Power off your hearing aids (in the charger, or battery doors open).
  3. Open the Bluetooth menu (Samsung: Settings › Connections › Bluetooth; Pixel and others: Settings › Connected devices).
  4. Paired before? Tap the gear icon next to each hearing aid entry and choose Unpair or Forget.
  5. Power the hearing aids back on. Tap Scan or Pair new device and wait for both hearing aids to appear under Available devices.
  6. Tap one hearing aid and confirm with Pair. Wait about 10 seconds to see if the second one pairs by itself. If it doesn’t, tap the second one and tap Pair.
  7. Install the free Signia app from Google Play, allow Bluetooth and notifications, choose Bluetooth setup, and follow the on-screen steps.

Pure Charge&Go BCT IX is different

Signia’s Pure Charge&Go BCT IX uses Classic Bluetooth, like a headset. On iPhone you pair it in Settings › Bluetooth (it shows under Other Devices), not in Hearing Devices. Seeing two or three hearing aid entries in your Bluetooth list is normal for this model: one is for streaming and the others are the Signia app’s connection. Only the streaming entry needs to say Connected.

Phone and model requirements

Signia hearing aids stream to iPhone through Made for iPhone and to Android through ASHA. Not every Android phone supports ASHA, so check Signia’s device compatibility page. Signia says IX hearing aids on firmware 25.5.972.3 or newer also work with LE Audio phones. Features like hands-free calls vary by model and phone.

Common questions

Why do my Signia hearing aids keep disconnecting from my iPhone?

Common causes are another paired device grabbing the connection or an old pairing. Signia recommends turning off Control Nearby Devices and Audio Handoff, turning Bluetooth off on other paired devices, and doing a clean unpair and re-pair after restarting the phone.

Why do I only hear streaming in one Signia hearing aid?

Signia says to first check that the hearing aids aren't clogged with wax. With Pure Charge&Go BCT IX, both hearing aids also need to sit level and in the proper position on your ears for stereo streaming.

The Signia app says Bluetooth is disconnected but streaming works. What do I do?

Force close the app and reopen it, then restart the phone. If that fails, reset the app (menu › Settings › App settings › Set up the app). Signia says this doesn't change your hearing aid programming.

Which app do Signia hearing aids use?

The free Signia app from the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Do Signia hearing aids support Auracast?

Signia's support page currently says no, although some Signia IX hearing aids support LE Audio.

How do I hear the TV through Signia hearing aids?

Signia recommends its TV Sound accessory. The Pure Charge&Go BCT IX can also pair directly with some TVs that support Classic Bluetooth.
